Nick Lodolo (LHP, CIN) is throwing more change-ups to righties

Lodolo is known for his curveball but has been throwing more change-ups to right-handed hitters this season. His change-up usage increased from 14.8% in 2023 to 20.2% in 2024 against right-handed hitters and the results have improved significantly, evidenced by a .278 wOBA (.244 xwOBA) in 2024 compared to a .513 wOBA (.362 xwOBA) in 2023.

It seems like the change-up results in 2024 might be more reflective of the skills, especially considering the brutal luck factors on the pitch. Lodolo's change-up allowed a 50% HR/F and 47% H% in 2023, dipping to a 13.3% HR/F and 23% H% in 2024.
