RELIEVERS: 2023 Sleepers (sort of)

This column focuses on sleepers, which, let's be honest, there are virtually no sleepers in the true sense. Not in 2023. This column looks just at a few cheapo relievers who could fall into some saves. Apropos nothing at all, except the juxtaposition of skills, which has a proven track record of turning into leverage opportunities, which can always lead to saves.

Let's start with the Cubs. The two relievers projected to get saves in the beginning are Michael Fulmer (RHP, CHC) and Brandon Hughes (LHP, CHC). Not very exciting, particularly with the projected skills. But it isn't like the Cubs don't have closer-worthy skill sets in their pen. They do.
