MINORS: Scouting the 2012 MLB Draft, Round One

With the 2012 amateur player draft under way, we take a look at each player taken in the first round, with a special eye to the surprises and which players have the quickest path to the majors.

The first surprise of the draft came with the very first pick when the Houston Astros selected Carlos Correa (SS, HS/P.R.).  Most prognosticators had the Astros choosing between Mark Appel (RHP, Stanford) and Bryon Buxton (OF, HS/GA), but Correa turned in a number stellar workouts in the last month and the buzz on him was building.  Correa has been compared to Alex Rodriguez for his size, power, and athleticism and in the end it was too much for the Astros to pass up.
