I’m not a big fan of Triple-A scouting. For starters, on any given day of heading to a Triple-A game, I’ll likely run into 9 to 15 guys, in the lineup or on the mound, who are guys who are depth plays for the MLB organization, meaning guys who will see MLB action for a short stretch because MLB players are hurt and teams don’t have the requisite depth of younger prospects to depend on at the MLB level. Mostly, these players are nicknamed Quad-A players since they produce at Triple-A but struggle in MLB. Triple-A is also a haul for me and rarely makes sense to cover early.
