MINORS: About Prospect Fatigue

Every year, when we’re diving into our prospect lists, I often wonder how much regency bias plays into my own list and the collective HQ100. Everyone loves fresh prospects. I never rooted harder for a prospect to get his 131st MLB AB harder than Astros OF Kyle Tucker. I was tired of talking about a prospect who would have lost prospect eligibility during the 2018 season in most other organizations. And I like Kyle Tucker and think he’s easily a top 50 fantasy redraft pick once he’s able to find the playing time in the big leagues, which, hopefully, is this year.

Where would have Tucker ranked if he walked in his last plate appearance of 2019? I had him ranked sixth on my internal prospect ranking on...
