The 29-year-old has been recalled from Double-A and he’ll serve as a third catcher for the Giants. Williams originally was drafted and developed by San Francisco before signing with the Rockies in 2014. He earned 14 ABs and hit a HR in his brief major league experience. Over the offseason, he was claimed off waivers by the Angels before being sold to the Giants in March 2015. Williams is a fundamentally sound defender behind the plate with a strong, accurate arm.
