RESEARCH: Surprisingly Productive Years, Part 1 (Batters)

The 2017 draft season is over. You can stop thinking about valuation for another 10 months, right? Not so fast. Just because we’ve spent all of our 2017 auction dollars, that doesn’t mean we’ve accounted all of our 2017 value just yet. Past research tells us that the players we value on draft day only deliver about 80-85% of the value our fantasy teams accumulate during the season. This means that about $500 of what owners in a 12-team AL/NL only league (or about $650 in a 15-team mixed league) pay for players on auction day will go to waste. More to the point: players projected to be worthless on auction day will be the ones who earn that value.

Now that the regular season is underway, instead of continuing to live in the past...
