RESEARCH: The future of playing time measurement starts now

"Volume" may be the biggest buzzword in fantasy baseball today — and with good reason. It's experts' secret code word for "accumulating more playing time", which we advise doing because playing time leads to higher counting stats and, the theory goes, more fantasy championships.
But chasing volume isn't easy. Not only is it hard to predict which players will accumulate the most playing time in the future, we still have only the most rudimentary metrics to understand how players have even accumulated playing time in the past!
As metrics in every other aspect of our game have gotten dazzlingly more sophisticated over time, the parallel progression of our metrics related to playing time has been almost comically insufficient. For position...
