Every spring, fantasy managers draft highly touted rookies or drain their FAAB budgets on early season call-ups. But how likely are these investments to pay off?
Several weeks ago, we looked at the season-long production of rookie position players and concluded that rookies rarely finish in the Top 25 of any offensive category except SB.
This time, we look at pitchers.
In recent weeks, fantasy owners have made significant FAAB investments in rookie pitchers Michael Wacha, Kevin Gausman, Tony Cingrani, and Jose Fernandez. And now, Gerrit Cole. Among the rookies who were drafted in many leagues this year were Shelby Miller, Hyun-jin Ryu, Trevor Rosenthal, and Julio Teheran.
And again, these investments still look highly unlikely to offer...
