We are now officially in the dog days of the baseball season, which means that at this point much of the big changes to prospect stock have already happened. Sure, there is still plenty of baseball to be played, but most of the breakouts are old news and the statistical leaderboards are starting to solidify. One thing we can do at this point is evaluate how players have fared in the second half of the season versus the first half. With about two months already in the books, second half sample sizes can make for some meaningful comparisons with first half performances.

Strikeout rates can make or break a batter’s chances for major league success, so it’s important to monitor prospects’ developments in this area....
