RELIEVERS: 2019 AL Spring Training wrap-up

Spring training is wrapping up and first games have already been played! The most important thing to remember is that the sample sizes are way way WAY too small to put any stock in. Teams evaluate players for roles using these tiny samples (and a lot of work that we don't see in numbers) on back fields and in situational drills and also in the progression from mid-February to now in multiple ways. It is still a time to pause and comment, but take the spring stats for what they are worth—which is practically nothing.

The goal is to sort noise from news, examine position battles and zero-in on relievers who may or may not be answering questions. Volatility is king in most of these circumstances and that goes double in bullpens here at the...
