Kelly, he of plus defensive tools and a still-developing bat, struggled mightily upon his call-up last year (see his call-up piece for good background information). Over his 11 games, he slashed .174/.240/.217 but his defense at least came along with him, throwing out 45 percent of basestealers with no PB and one error. 2018 has seen the continuation of Kelly’s struggles at the plate, slashing .234/.337/.364, with four doubles and two HR for Triple-A Memphis. His 0.79 Eye rate is more in line with his last few seasons there, and his h% is subdued at 26.2%, so it’s unclear if...
