The Pirates recalled the 26-year-old to act as their third catcher for the next week until Francisco Cervelli returns from the disabled list. Stallings isn’t expected to see much action, though it is being reported he’ll catch RHP Jameson Taillon because he caught him in the minors. The right-handed hitter has formidable size and athleticism for a backstop (6’5”, 225 pounds), but he offers very little offensively.
