CALL-UPS: June 1-7

June 7

Evan Scribner (RHP, OAK)
The 26-year-old received a few big league callups in ’11 as a member of the Padres and pitched 14 innings. Claimed off waivers by Oakland in October ’11, he’s back in the majors. Scribner doesn’t stand out for any particular pitch or attribute, but he consistently gets the job done. He has closing experience, though he’s likely to see action in the middle innings for the time being. He’s been very stingy against right-handed hitters with an improving curveball, but he works ahead in the count by spotting his average 87-93 mph fastball to both sides of the plate. He has a consistent, methodical delivery along with a standard release point. Scribner has a tendency to leave his curveball up in the zone...
