After a surprisingly strong '11 campaign that saw him limit hitters to a .140 oppBA in the big leagues, the 24-year-old was placed in Triple-A to begin '12. Spence is back with San Diego as Dustin Moseley was placed on the disabled list. He was a 9th round pick in the '10 draft and has made quite a name for himself despite stuff that isn't eye-popping. With career minor league numbers of 2.12 ERA, 2.2 Ctl, and 10.5 Dom, one would expect a blazing fastball or impeccable breaking ball. Not so. Spence's fastball sits between 81-87 mph and his slider is rather ordinary.
