GM's OFFICE: Searching for early FAAB wheat amid the chaff

The FAAB process can be maddening at any time of year, but I'd argue that April is the most aggravating time to be working the waiver wire. Right now, it's hard to assess player performance, due to sample size issues. Off days and rainouts muddy up managerial tendencies, making it challenging to even handicap the playing time picture, when it's already hard to handicap performance.

Oh, and if you're anything like me, you're still getting to know the team(s) you drafted; trying to weigh your post-draft assessment of its theoretical strengths and weaknesses against the actual results you're seeing on the field. Throw in macro-level variables like new managers in your league, maybe new leagues altogether, redesigned or unfamiliar league...
