Bautista suffers wrist injury
Something doesn’t pass the smell test.

A hitter takes a swing at a pitch and immediate feels pain and hears a pop in his left wrist. It tells us:

  • he broke the wrist.
  • he suffered a torn tendon.
  • he tore the tendon sheath that protects a tendon.
  • the cartilage was torn in the wrist, or
  • he suffered a torn ligament.

The official word from the Blue Jays, however, is that José Bautista (OF, TOR) has tendinitis in his wrist. I can’t remember the last time a player said he felt a "pop" and it turned out to be just tendinitis. It is possible that Bautista only has tendinitis, but his reaction and explanation of the injury says it’s a lot more. Right now Toronto’s medical staff is saying he...
