When the Diamondbacks acquired Blake Swihart (C/OF, ARI) from the Red Sox last month, they announced at the time their intention to use Swihart mostly as a backup at the corner outfield spots, with little or no time spent behind the plate. True to their word, Swihart has yet to catch a game for the D-Backs, with all seven of his starts coming in either LF or RF. On the season, he’s hitting .179 (.213 xBA) with 4 HR (120 xPX) in 67 at-bats. He’s chasing pitches outside the zone (38%) more than ever, and will need to curb the strikeouts (60% ct% in 74 at-bats, including 20 K in 41 AB with ARI) if he hopes to improve in the BA department.
