There seems to be a changing of the guard behind the plate in Colorado, as Opening Day starter Chris Iannetta (C, COL) has been ceding playing time to 27-year-old Tom Murphy (C, COL), the team’s #10 prospect heading into the season. Slated to enter the 2017 season in a timeshare behind the plate, Murphy essentially missed the first half of 2017 with a broken arm, and never really got going after that—with only 1 hit in 24 at-bats at the MLB level, and hitting a paltry .255 with 4 HR in 141 at-bats in the hitter-friendly PCL. But this year has been an entirely different story. Across 187 at-bats in Triple-A, Murphy was hitting .289 with 16 HR and 45 RBI while carrying a 70% ct%.
