As the Dodgers turn their focus more to the postseason, one concern appears to be the effectiveness of closer Kenley Jansen (RHP, LA), who on the year owns a 3.74 ERA (3.54 xERA) with 60/11 K/BB in 46 innings. Those numbers are backed by some very nice underlying metrics—including a 68% FpK and 16% SwK, both of which are improvements from last year’s 65% and 14%, respectively. After a combined 5 blown saves in the past two years, however, Jansen has already equaled that mark with nearly a quarter of the season left to play.
