After having the third-best staff ERA (3.61) in baseball last season, the Arizona rotation figures to again be a major strength as the team makes their attempted return to the playoffs. The rotation—Zack Greinke (RHP, ARI), Robbie Ray (LHP, ARI), Zach Godley (RHP, ARI), Taijuan Walker (RHP, ARI) and Patrick Corbin (LHP, ARI)—will have help from not only the upcoming installation of the humidor, discussed in detail here, but also with a much-improved defense roaming the outfield.
Behind these starting five, however, the options are far from overwhelming.
With the team’s former #1 prospect, Anthony Banda (LHP, TAM), shipped away to TAM, 26-year-old Braden Shipley (RHP, ARI) could be next in line if an opening arose....
