The Giants employed a lineup full of moving pieces based on handedness advantage for the last few seasons. After a disappointing 2022 campaign, the team appears to have shifted their philosophy while looking for a more stable starting nine though the signings of Michael Conforto (OF, SF) and Mitch Haniger (OF, SF). While that’s cut down on platoon splits and competition, first base is one position that looks most likely to remain unsettled heading into spring training. As is currently projected, J.D. Davis (3B, SF) and Wilmer Flores (1B/2B/3B, SF) will handle the corner infield duties, though it’s unclear how they would split duties between first and third base.
