After all the offseason and spring training speculation surrounding the Mets’ third base job, manager Mickey Callaway seems to have settled on J.D. Davis (INF, NYM) in the early going. Davis has started six of the Mets’ first nine games at 3B and appeared as a pinch hitter in two other contests. He’s paid early dividends at the plate: 6 R, 2 HR, 4 RBI, 3 BB, 6 K in 25 AB, good for a .280/.357/.600 triple-slash.
Davis put up some gaudy numbers in Triple-A last year (.342/.406/.583 in 333 AB), so the Mets hope he’s started making the adjustment to MLB.
