We wrote back in February that Aaron Altherr (OF, PHI) was someone to monitor closely, as he could eventually carve out a larger role. The 26-year-old had a tremendous spring, batting .303 with 4 HR and 2 SB in 66 AB. While one can’t get carried away with spring stats, Altherr’s performance is certainly noteworthy given the mechanical adjustments he has made at the plate. New hitting coach Matt Stairs has gotten Altherr to lower his hands, resulting in a shorter and quicker swing.
