PT TOMORROW: NL East—B.J. Upton getting another shot at leadoff

Manager Fredi Gonzalez continues to tinker with his lineup. The latest tweak has put the struggling B.J. Upton (OF, ATL) in the leadoff spot and Andrelton Simmons (SS, ATL) into the second slot. It will be interesting to see how long this lasts.

The team’s offense remains one of the league’s worst, averaging just 3.65 runs per game (14th in NL and 29th in MLB) and will now be without one of its most productive hitters, Evan Gattis (C, ATL) for at least two weeks. Gattis was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 29, with a bulging thoracic disc in his back. He was given an epidural injection and will be re-evaluated soon to get a better handle on exactly how much time he will miss. Christian Bethancourt...
