Homer Bailey (RHP, CIN) is headed to the disabled list due to a flexor mass issue in his right arm. Management is certainly crossing its fingers that the issue is minor, after committing $105 million over six years to Bailey back in February. As of this writing, it's not clear who will fill in for him, but no in-house option looks ready to make an immediate impact.
Dylan Axelrod (RHP, CIN), who put up a 5.68 ERA and 1.7 Cmd with the White Sox a season ago, is said to be a top candidate to slide into Bailey's rotation spot. He has fared well in five starts with Triple-A Louisville since he was acquired by the Reds, but don't expect that success to carry over to the majors.
