The back end of the Cardinals’ bullpen has been very steady to begin the season, thanks in large part to Alex Reyes’s (RHP, STL) emergence as the team’s closer. In fact, he’s been a perfect 15-for-15 in save opportunities and has recorded all but four of the team’s saves to this point in the campaign. Despite underlying metrics that suggest this type of success can’t continue (21 BB%, 4.75 xERA), his success means he’ll likely have to undergo immense struggles to be moved out of the role this season.

Even so, it’s worth noting the emergence of other young bullpen arms in St. Louis. Though Génesis Cabrera (LHP, STL) was in the headlines for his unfortunate (and unintentional) loss of command earlier in the season,...
