The relief corps has been even worse than expected in the early going, as they've collectively put up a 6.04 ERA, along with a 1.4 Cmd, through the team's first 15 games. J. J. Hoover (RHP, CIN), who began the season as the team's closer, has allowed 10 runs (nine earned) in just 5 1/3 innings, prompting Manager Bryan Price to go with a committee approach for the time being.

Meanwhile, Jumbo Diaz (RHP, CIN), who as of this spring, was expected to be Plan B, is no longer even on the big league roster. Diaz allowed 17 base runners and seven earned runs in nine spring training innings, albeit with 10 strikeouts. He began the regular season with four scoreless outings, but served up a home run in three of his next four...
