But the waivers acquisition of Danny Valencia (OF/3B/1B) appears to be giving the A's some new options, at least over the short-term. A career .326 BA vs LHPs has profiled Valencia as a lefty killer for most of his career, and one idea behind his acquisition was to move Brett Lawrie (3B/2B, OAK) back to his old position at 2B, at least when the A's faced LHPs. But entering Tuesday, Valencia had made four starts—three vs. RHPs—in OAK's previous five games, suggesting something else may be percolating here.
