The only near-consensus is that Sean Manaea (LHP, OAK) enters the new year as the staff "ace" despite a volatile and disappointing 2017. Age (26), pedigree and a promising 2016 debut still give the A's (and us) hope. But Manaea's control was up and down last season, and his SwK, Dom and velocity all faded throughout.
