With obvious help from surging Mickey Moniak (OF, LAA), the club is running out of patience with Taylor Ward's (OF, LAA) inconsistent production. It's been a rollercoaster season for Ward, whose batting average hasn't crossed the .250 mark since mid-April and whose last HR came on May 2. With a .231/.306/.329 slash line that includes just 4 HR through 196 PA, Ward is simply not making the same authoritative contact he made in 2022. His ct% has held steady, but Ward's bb% is down a few ticks, his chase rate has doubled, his barrels have been cut in half, and there's no hint of an imminent power uptick in his current performance or the underlying metrics.
