While the Red Sox opened the season with a roster full of interchangeable parts outside of stars like Xander Bogaerts (SS, BOS), Rafael Devers (3B, BOS) and J.D. Martinez (DH, BOS), one of the closest players to a lineup fixture—at least when healthy—has been Enrique Hernández (OF, BOS). But that may be changing.

After going 9-for-25 (HR, 2B) in his first six games after returning from a short IL stint (hamstring), things have taken an abrupt turn for the worse for Hernández, and after a 0-for-21 stretch (4 K, 2 BB), Hernández found himself on the bench in back-to-back games June 3 and 4.

One has to think that this is merely the proverbial “head clearing” opportunity for Hernández, as the alternatives currently on the Red...
