The Red Sox were largely quiet at the trade deadline—save for acquiring erstwhile A’s closer Ryan Cook (RHP, BOS)—though it is nearly certain that the roster will undergo some churn yet as the team plays out the string.

For one, Mike Napoli (1B, BOS) looks like a prime candidate to pass through waivers then could be traded, which would open up first base. While much of the speculation to play the position in his stead has focused on Brock Holt (3B, BOS), Travis Shaw (1B, BOS) put his best foot forward Aug. 1, slugging a pair of HRs while going 4-for-4, scoring five runs and knocking in three.
