Ubaldo Jiménez (RHP, BAL) made his return to the Baltimore rotation June 18, essentially swapping spots with Alec Asher (RHP, BAL), who gave up at least 5 ER in three of his four starts, all of which he lost.
In five games as a reliever, Jimenez had been marginally better (4.32 ERA, 1.08 WHIP) than he had been as a starter (7.71 ERA, 1.739 WHIP). He did, too, have a 20/4 K/BB in his 16.2 IP in relief; however, his FpK casts doubt on the theory that the bullpen stint has helped him lick his longstanding control struggles for good. As if to prove the point, Jimenez did make it through seven innings in his June 18 start. However, his otherwise decent 2-ER performance came with a shaky 3/4 K/BB.
