PT TOMORROW: AL East — Let’s make a (hypothetical) deal

As this is the last edition of AL East Playing Time Tomorrow before the Major League Baseball trade deadline, let’s hypothesize about plausible moves for each team in the division and see where they take us from a playing time perspective.

 

Baltimore Orioles

Baltimore deals Trey Mancini (DH, BAL) for a prospect or two.

As heartwarming as the Orioles’ sudden rise into relevancy has been and as admired as he may be for returning to the field after battling cancer, it makes sense for Baltimore to try to turn a half-season from the 30-year-old Mancini for something that will be a bit more helpful in the long run.

Mancini may have dampened trade interest a bit with an 0-for-23 stretch from July 16 to 26, but he followed that up with a pair...
