PT TOMORROW: AL East — Early bead on buzz on Bogaerts: Believe

Boston Red Sox

While all the usual caveats about small sample sizes apply, those who wrote off the abysmal performance of Xander Bogaerts (SS, BOS) after a July 6 hit-by-pitch have some early evidence that the slate should indeed be wiped clean.

In the season’s first three games, Bogaerts was 8-for-12 with six extra-base hits.

According to local press reports, Bogaerts’ performance is due not just to a healthier hand but a modified stance, designed to help him “feel stronger in his lower half so he could generate more power through the hips,” according to a story by the Boston Globe’s Peter Abraham.

That, in turn, was designed to allow Bogaerts to get the ball in the air more easily, and once again, the early returns are beyond positive...
