PT TOMORROW: AL East — In BAL, Valdez’s ‘dead fish’ may be rotting

Orioles manager Brandon Hyde recently suggested that he was considering moving César Valdez (RHP, BAL) out of the closer role, less due to his performance and more because he believed a different configuration at the back end of games would make sense, given the way his bullpen was currently configured.

However, he can now add faltering performance to the list of reasons to depose Valdez.

In back-to-back appearances May 24 and 27, Valdez allowed three earned runs while recording just a single out, sending his season-long ERA soaring towards 4.00.

That’s the thing about dead fishes, we suppose — after a while, they start to stink.
