The White Sox are planning on an Opening Day rotation of Chris Sale (LHP, CHW), Jeff Samardzija (RHP, CHW), José Quintana (LHP, CHW), John Danks (LHP, CHW), and Hector Noesí (RHP, CHW). The most interesting question in Chicago is not if, but when, Carlos Rodón (LHP, CHW) (pictured above) will displace Danks or Noesi this season.
Danks has not had an ERA below 4.30 since 2010. Since shoulder surgery in 2012 he has posted a cumulative 4.74 ERA/1.38 WHIP/5.9 Dom in 332 IP. BaseballHQ.com is expecting more of the same from Danks this season, forecasting a R$ of $-15. Noesi is forecast to be even worse ($-19). In 2014 Noesi had a 4.75 ERA/1.37 WHIP/6.4 Dom/2.2 Cmd in 172 IP. Both Danks and Noesi could be innings-eaters...
