Kansas City Star beat writer Rustin Dodd recently offered speculation on who could be the Royals' leadoff hitter in 2017. The question is warranted, as the incumbent, Alcides Escobar (SS, KC), posted OBAs of .293 (4% bb%) and .292 (4% bb%) in 2015 and 2016. Also, his 31 SB in 2014 fell to 17 SB each in 2015 and 2016. Manager Ned Yost says he hasn't decided on an Opening Day lineup, but it appears fairly certain that 2-3-4 will be occupied by Mike Moustakas (3B, KC), Lorenzo Cain (OF, KC) and Eric Hosmer (1B, KC).
