It is still very early, but Kenta Maeda (RHP, DET) and Reese Olson (RHP, DET) have struggled out of the gate. Maeda has seen his average fastball velocity dip to 89.2 MPH, down from 90.7 in 2023, and he's allowed 9 ER in 9 IP with a 5/5 K/BB through two starts. Olson sports a 6/5 K/BB in two starts, though his velocity and SwK suggest there's no reason to be concerned at this point.
The pressure will be on all of the starters to perform, as Matt Manning (RHP, DET) is awaiting his next opportunity while at Triple-A Toledo....
