Rangers acquire Dempster, send Oswalt to pen
After declining a trade to Atlanta, Ryan Dempster (RHP, TEX) was instead dealt to Texas, who had actively been seeking an upgrade in their rotation. It has been quite a season to this point for Dempster, who has a 2.25 ERA through 16 starts, after posting a 4.80 mark a season ago. He is succeeding with a career best 2.3 Dom, along with benefiting from a 26% hit rate and 83% strand rate. Despite the dramatic improvement in surface stats, Dempster's 86 BPV and 3.58 xERA are right in line with his skills from the previous four seasons.
