Markakis breaks thumb

The stretch drive of the surprising Baltimore Orioles was dealt a bad break, literally, when a 93-mph fastball fractured the thumb of Nick Markakis (OF, BAL). Markakis is expected to miss the rest of the season. Fantasy owners have enjoyed Markakis' sterling BA and runs contribution from atop the Baltimore lineup in the second half (.335, 34 runs, 5 HR, 28 RBI in 221 ABs), which was backed by a 94% ct%, 1.43 Eye. Those levels are a bit high for Markakis historically; nonetheless, he seems poised to once again be a helpful BA presence with league-average power in 2013.

In the first game without Markakis, the Orioles shifted Chris Davis (DH, BAL) into right field, which opened up the DH spot...
