ROTISSERIE: Santana Plan anchors for 2016

The Santana Plan is a roster construction strategy that advocates building a pitching staff around one elite starter, or “Santana Plan anchor.”

The rest of the strategy follows BaseballHQ.com’s LIMA plan. In a nutshell, budget about 25-31% of auction dollars on pitching, which will require that starting pitchers other than the Santana Plan anchor be less expensive options that still possess reasonably high skills. Spending 69%-75% of the budget on batters should give an advantage in compiling category-winning batting statistics.

Why buy one expensive starting pitcher? With the proper statistical filters and subjective judgments, an expensive starting pitcher on average is a MUCH better investment than other pitchers are. BaseballHQ.com...
