ROTISSERIE: Now is time to acquire minor-league prospects

BaseballHQ.com columnists, from founder Ron Shandler on down, have consistently advocated not getting too attached to minor leaguers or minor league draft picks.

“In keeper leagues, when you have the opportunity to win, you have to go all-in, no matter how much you want to protect the future,” Shandler wrote in the summer of 2012, touching off a bit of debate.

That’s a sage bit of advice. But here’s another, and it’s not as contradictory as it might seem at first: Now, the off-season, is the time to trade for minor-league players and minor-league draft picks.
