ROTISSERIE: Finding Value in the Roto350 Arizona Challenge

At First Pitch Arizona 2011, Ron Shandler rolled out a new gaming challenge for attendees. Ron provided a list of player valuations and each owner was tasked with selecting a 40-man roster without spending more than $350. The valuations were based on player performance within the Roto500 scoring system over the last two years. The Roto350 scoring categories include HR, SB, OBP, (R+RBI-HR) for hitters and W, K, ERA, (Sv + Hld - BSv) for pitchers.

Each owner was required to select 23 starting players (14 hitters and 9 pitchers) and 17 reserve players to start the season. While all of these 40 players could be freely moved amongst the starting and reserve rosters during the season, free agents would only be available at four distinct...
