KEEPERS: Five improving outlooks

Entering 2013, Julio Teheran had come off his worst professional season, and had done nothing in winter ball to signal a turnaround. Yet suddenly in his final three February starts, Teheran looked like a different pitcher, allowing just two hits over 17 IP that included a 15/4 K/BB, and had scouts taking notice. He went on to dominate in spring training, produce a breakout 14-win, 3.20 ERA during the regular 2013 season and has never looked back.

With regards to ceiling, Teheran is the exception rather than the rule. Few sure things exist among unproven MLB prospects, and gambles and leaps of faith are often required from fantasy owners before a player's light flicks on. But other times, the off-season can produce signs that a player...
