As most fantasy owners now realize, Jake deGrom is one of the NL rookie-of-the-year favorites, on the strength of a 2.63/3.14 ERA/xERA combo, 2.8 Ctl, 144 Ks through 140 IP, a 45% GB%, and 9 wins for a mediocre team. But the NYM rookie SP was on few dynasty league radars this past spring, particularly in an organization loaded with premium starting pitching talent. DeGrom spent 2011 recovering from Tommy John surgery, put in a partial 2012 in the low minors recovering arm strength, and was then rushed three levels in 2013, finishing with numbers that weren't in any metric indicative of his current performance.
