When targeting positional players in the Strat-O-Matic online game, injury rating represents a significant difference from pitcher targets. Batters with less than 600 plate appearances can be injured up to fifteen games. This can cripple your team as exchanging the player for another normally results in a 10% salary cap penalty. A carefully crafted team that puts as much money as possible on the field can lose its advantage in the playoffs if an injury wipes out a key player. In the Strat-O-Matic game engine, batters get injured more frequently than pitchers, so you must pay close attention to the injury rating. You may invert your normal Roto budget allocation to reflect this risk.
