FROM A TO ZINKIE: Evaluating the early-round busts

We have not yet reached the middle of June, but the biggest busts of 2018 can already be identified. Although some slow starters are likely to have a performance surge in the coming weeks, there are a few players who garnered massive investments and have performed at such a low level that they surely won’t finish the season with stats that meet expectations. And while these players are sunk costs for the current campaign, they can perhaps give us some tips on how to avoid similar disasters next year.

The players discussed in this space were all Top 50 NFBC picks who have performed so poorly or missed so much time that they already have virtually no chance to meet expectations:
