After losing Kyle Drabek (RHP, TOR) and Brandon Morrow (RHP, TOR) to injuries this week, the Blue Jays' Drew Hutchison left the June 16th game with a sprained right UCL. Hutchison had just started to find his groove, posting PQS 5-5-3 in his prior 3 starts. Who will get the starts for the injured 60% of TOR's rotation?

With Chris Heisey (OF, CIN) joining Drew Stubbs (OF, CIN) among the hobbled, Wilson Valdez (SS, CIN) made his first career CF start Friday. Starting CF Stubbs has been placed on the DL, retroactive to June 6, with a left oblique strain. Heisey had made eight straight CF starts in Stubbs' absence, but is DTD with a left groin strain that forced him to leave CIN's June 14 game.

The A's have decided to go to a closer-by-committee, opening the door for young Ryan Cook to seize a more prominent bullpen role. Meanwhile, the Marlins have promoted Gaby Sanchez, installing at 1b, which will cost the team's OFers some playing time.

Daisuke Matsuzaka (RHP, BOS) returned to BOS rotation Saturday, after more than a year since his last start. A solid, though not spectacular, outing provides owners hope that he is trending more towards his minor league rehab numbers than his last 250 major league innings. Within the same division, BAL Opening Day starter Jake Arrieta (RHP, BAL) was sent to the bullpen due to some very unlucky surface stats.

Utility players veteran Jerry Hairston (IF/OF, LA) and rookie Elian Herrera (3B/2B/OF, LA) recently have seized regular PT spread among multiple positions while swinging hot bats amidst a spate of LA injuries. Herrera entered Friday having started 17 of 19 games. The initial 2B replacement for injured starter Mark Ellis (2B, LA), Herrera has more recently split time between 3B and CF, with Hairston settling in at 2B. Hairston has started 10 of 14 games, with his last six starts at 2B, since his May 25 activation from the DL.
